One of Sajata's Favorite herbs! So gentle yet sooo Powerful.
Usually added as a boost to other herbs in tea, on its own it is awesome for dry coughs, ulcers, GI inflammation and urinary infections.
Plantain is a main ingredient in Cocolene's Rescue Salve and the reason Rescue soothes poison ivy.
If you have skin issues like psoriasis or acne, making an herbal infusion (tea), drinking it and applying it to affected areas will help a lot!
Ingredients
Certified Organic Plantago major L, Plantain leaves form Croatia.
How to Use
Medicinally, Plantain Leaf (Plantago major) is approved by the German Commission E for respiratory catarrhs and mild inflammation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa.
It also has a chemical called Aucubin that helps protect the kidney and liver. Aucubin stimulates the excretion of uric acid from the body through the kidneys, so it is beneficial for treating gout. Uric acid is collected by the kidney and causes kidney stones. When Uric Acid is collected in the joints, it causes joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, (the most common form of arthritis worldwide) and gout. Plantain is a kidney and liver detox.
It is topically used for minor cuts, bruises, psoriasis, eczema and stings.
The leaves of plantain are quite edible, and are often cooked as greens or used raw in salads.
Older leaves have a stronger flavor and may be considered objectionable. These older, stringy leaves may still be used in herbal teas, and are particularly suitable for survival situations where the tough fibers may be converted to rope or fishing line.
Plantain is very high in vitamins A and C and is also a rich source of calcium.
Plantain can be found in Baby Bottom Balm, Rescue Salve, Rescue+
